For young Servas travellers, Servas provides an opportunity to learn a language abroad and live with locals.
SYLE Servas Youth Languages Experiences

What is the program SYLE

Young members of Servas get the opportunity to immerse themselves for 1 month in a country and learn/experience its language and culture. The Servas network is used for this purpose - a handful of hosts of the chosen country provide food and accommodation for the young traveller for about 1-2 weeks each and facilitate in one form or another the learning/deepening of their language and culture. A local team leader coordinates the program. The young traveller must pay himself for any additional costs including travel expenses.

Pablo, the International SERVAS Youth Coordinator defines the program SYLE on the website of SERVAS Youth International as follows:

• The SYLE is for one month (4 weeks) at least the traveler and the local team leader coordinate a longer or shorter stay
• The SYLE will offer an agenda with social, cultural and touristic activities, complementary to the languages classes program.
• The SYLE will provide accomodation, meals and activities to the traveler with out any cost trough the Servas Network.
• Servas Youth do not count with funds to cover any kind of transportation.

International Youth Meeting

31 July-6 August 2011 in Kampala on Lake Nyanza (Victoria)

Dear Servas friends, It is a pleasure to me to invite you to the coming Servas International Youth Event in Kampala, Uganda. Following the experience and the success of an important line of international youth events in the world now here we are presenting our first edition in a beautiful African land. The event will occur on 30 July - 6 August 2011 in Kampala near Lake Nyanza (Victoria). Lweza Training and Conference Center.

The annual youth international events are open to all of those members that believe in the youth as a value, that believe on the power of the young minds and spirits. We are working hard to offer Servas new generations of leaders. Leaders connected with the experience of the older and with the enthusiasm of the younger Servas people. We have a plus on this opportunity, will be sharing the venue and agenda with the African Regional Meeting. It will be an excellent moment to increase our synergy and outreach. A new line of young African leaders is on the way, you need to be there to take part of this historic moment for Servas.
